Solar PV Installation in Fleet
Solar PV Installer In Fleet
System Sizes and What They Cost
We design solar PV systems to match your roof space, your electricity usage, and your budget. The three most common domestic system sizes are:
- 3kW system (8 panels) Suits smaller homes or limited roof space. Generates approximately 2,400–2,800 kWh per year. Covers 50–60% of typical household consumption.
- 4kW system (10–11 panels) The most popular size for 3–4 bedroom homes. Generates 3,200–3,800 kWh per year. The sweet spot between cost and output for most families.
- 6kW+ system (15+ panels) For larger homes, households with high electricity usage, or those adding an EV charger or heat pump. Generates 4,800+ kWh per year.
See our pricing page for current system costs. We give fixed quotes after the free roof survey – no estimates, no hidden extras.
Battery Storage
Without a battery, surplus solar electricity is exported to the grid at a low rate – typically 4–6p per kWh under the Smart Export Guarantee. A battery stores that surplus so you can use it in the evening when you would otherwise buy electricity from the grid at 24–30p per kWh. This increases your self-consumption from a typical 30–40% to 60–80%, which dramatically improves the financial return on your solar investment.
We install three battery brands:
- GivEnergy The most popular choice for UK homes. Excellent app, modular capacity (add more batteries later), and strong warranty. Our most recommended option.
- Tesla Powerwall Premium brand with a large 13.5kWh capacity. Sleek wall-mounted design. Good for larger households with high evening consumption.
- Fox ESS Competitive pricing with solid performance. A good option for budget-conscious installations where value matters most.
Solar and EV Charging in Fleet
If you have an electric vehicle or are considering one, solar and EV charging make an excellent combination. A Zappi charger can automatically divert surplus solar generation to charge your car during the day – free electricity from your roof rather than buying it from the grid at 24–30p per kWh. For a home with a 4kW solar system and a car on the driveway during the day, you could get 2,000–3,000 free miles per year from your roof.
We are both MCS certified for solar and OZEV approved for EV chargers, so we can design and install both as a single project in Fleet. This is more cost-effective than separate installations and ensures the systems work together seamlessly.
How Solar Installation Works in Fleet
The process from enquiry to generating electricity typically takes 4–6 weeks. Fleet is 5 minutes from our Church Crookham base.
- 1 Free roof survey We visit your property to assess the roof orientation, pitch angle, shading, structural condition, and available space. We also check your consumer unit and discuss your electricity usage. This takes about 45 minutes.
- 2 System design and quote We design a system to match your roof and your usage, and provide a fixed quote covering panels, inverter, battery (if required), installation, and all certification. We include an estimated annual generation figure and payback calculation.
- 3 Installation A typical domestic installation takes 1–2 days. Day one: scaffolding, roof mounting system, and panel installation. Day two: inverter, battery, electrical connections, and commissioning. We handle all the electrical work in-house – we do not subcontract.
- 4 Grid connection and SEG We handle the DNO (Distribution Network Operator) notification, connect the system to the grid, and help you register for the Smart Export Guarantee so you get paid for surplus electricity you export.
- 5 Certification We issue the MCS certificate (required for SEG eligibility), the Electrical Installation Certificate, and the EPC notification. All paperwork handled.

Local knowledge: Fleet
Is Your Fleet Home Suitable for Solar?
We are based in Church Crookham, Fleet, which makes Fleet the quickest and easiest place for us to install solar panels. Fleet gets an average of 1,300 hours of sunshine per year – enough to make solar a worthwhile investment for most properties with a south, east, or west-facing roof.
Elvetham Heath and Edenbrook
The modern developments at Elvetham Heath and Edenbrook have a mix of roof orientations. Many properties have south or south-west facing rear roof sections that are ideal for solar PV. The modern construction means the roof structures are well suited to mounting systems, and the consumer units have capacity for a solar circuit. These estates are also where we install the most EV chargers – combining solar with a Zappi charger is increasingly popular here.
1970s–80s Estates (Velmead, Ancells, Calthorpe Road)
The 1970s–80s housing across Velmead, Ancells, and around Calthorpe Road often has south-facing rear roof sections at 30–40 degrees – close to the ideal pitch for solar PV in Hampshire. These concrete-tiled roofs are straightforward to install on. The consumer units may need upgrading to accommodate a solar circuit, which we include in the quote if needed.
Town Centre and Older Properties
The Victorian and Edwardian properties around the town centre can accommodate solar panels, though the roof structures, slate tiles, and listed building considerations need careful assessment. We evaluate everything at the free roof survey and will tell you honestly whether your property is suitable.
