LED Lighting Installation & Upgrades

Switching to LED lighting is one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to reduce your energy bills and improve the look of your home.

LED bulbs and fittings use around 80% less electricity than the halogen equivalents they replace and last up to 25 times longer, a typical LED downlight rated for 50,000 hours will last over 20 years at normal household use. The light quality has improved enormously in recent years too: modern LEDs produce warm, natural light that is virtually indistinguishable from traditional bulbs.

We design and install LED lighting for kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, gardens, and driveways. Whether you want a complete lighting scheme designed from scratch or a straightforward swap from halogen to LED in your existing fittings, we handle the full job, from selecting the right fittings and colour temperature through to installation, dimmer compatibility, and testing.

Recessed Downlights

Recessed downlights are the most popular LED installation we carry out. They sit flush with the ceiling and give a clean, modern look that works in almost any room. We install fire-rated units throughout, this is a Building Regulations requirement in most rooms, as the downlight cutout in the ceiling must be sealed against fire spread. Every fitting we install comes with the appropriate fire rating and IP (ingress protection) rating for its location.

A typical kitchen installation uses 6–8 downlights positioned to provide even coverage across the worktops and general floor space. We space them to avoid shadows and dark spots, and we can add a separate circuit for under-cabinet LED strip lighting to provide dedicated task illumination where you need it most.

Kitchen and Bathroom Lighting

Kitchens benefit from a layered approach to lighting. The main ceiling downlights provide general illumination, under-cabinet LED strip lights illuminate the worktops for food preparation, and accent lighting, such as plinth lights or in-cabinet LEDs, adds atmosphere in the evening. We wire each layer on its own circuit or dimmer so you can adjust the balance to suit the time of day and the mood you want.

Bathrooms require IP-rated fittings that are safe for use in wet environments. The regulations divide bathrooms into zones based on proximity to water – Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower), Zone 1 (directly above), Zone 2 (within 0.6m), and outside the zones.

Each zone has different IP rating requirements, and we ensure every fitting is correctly rated for its position.

Garden and Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lighting extends the use of your garden into the evening and adds security to your property. We install:

• Post lights and bollard lights along pathways and driveways for safe navigation after dark
• Recessed deck and patio lights for a subtle, integrated look on timber decking and paved areas
• Wall wash up-lighters and down-lighters to highlight architectural features, boundary walls, and planting
• Security floodlights with PIR motion sensors for driveways, side gates, and rear gardens
• Festoon and string lighting for entertaining areas and pergolas

All outdoor installations use IP65-rated or higher fittings on a dedicated circuit with its own RCD protection at the consumer unit. Cables are run in armoured conduit or buried at the correct depth to meet the regulations for underground wiring.
