Smart home devices work best when they are wired in properly, not balanced on a shelf running off a USB cable that keeps falling out, and not relying on a battery that needs charging every few weeks.

We install and hardwire video doorbells, security cameras, smart lighting systems, and home automation devices so they work reliably, look tidy, and are ready to use without constant maintenance.

We are electricians, not IT consultants, so we focus on the physical installation and wiring rather than app configuration and network setup. That said, we will make sure everything is powered on, connected, and demonstrably working before we leave.

Video Doorbells

Ring, Google Nest, Arlo, Eufy – all video doorbells benefit from a hardwired power connection rather than running on battery. A hardwired doorbell never needs charging, responds faster to motion events, records continuously rather than only when triggered, and maintains a more reliable connection to your WiFi network. We install a low-voltage transformer (usually in the loft or under the stairs) and run the wiring neatly to the front door position. The job typically takes 1–2 hours.

If you already have an existing wired doorbell, we can often reuse the existing cable run, which makes the installation even quicker. If you are starting from scratch, we will plan the cable route to be as discreet as possible – through wall cavities, along skirting boards, or through the loft space.

CCTV and Security Cameras

We install wired CCTV systems with cameras covering driveways, front doors, side gates, rear gardens, and any other area you want monitored. Wired cameras are significantly more reliable than WiFi-only models, they do not drop connection, do not suffer from interference, and do not slow down your home network.

A typical domestic CCTV installation includes 4 cameras with an NVR (Network Video Recorder) that stores footage locally on a hard drive. We run Cat5e or Cat6 cabling from each camera position back to the NVR location, which also provides power to the cameras via PoE (Power over Ethernet), so each camera needs just a single cable. All cabling is run discreetly through wall cavities, in exterior trunking, or under eaves.

Smart Lighting and Switches

Smart lighting gives you app control, voice control, and automation without needing to replace every bulb in the house with a smart bulb. We install smart switches and dimmers that replace your existing wall switches and control your main lighting circuits directly. This means you get smart control over your existing light fittings, and the switches still work manually, so guests do not need an app to turn the lights on.

We can also install scene controllers, multi-gang smart switch panels, and integrate with existing smart home ecosystems like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit, depending on the switch hardware you choose.
