Lost power, burning smell, or sparking? Call us on 01252 265094 and we will get someone to you as quickly as possible. We are based in Church Crookham, Fleet – within 20 minutes of anywhere in our coverage area.
If you have lost power, spotted burning or scorching near a socket, or your fuseboard keeps tripping and will not reset, please call an electrician immediately rather than submitting a web form. Please call us at 01252 265094, and we will get someone to you as quickly as possible.
We are based in Church Crookham, Fleet, which puts us within 20 minutes of anywhere in our coverage area. We carry a van stocked with the most common parts – consumer unit breakers, cable, sockets, isolators – so many emergency jobs can be resolved on the same visit without waiting for parts to be ordered.
We charge a fixed call-out fee for emergency work, which covers travel, the first assessment on site, and diagnosis of the fault. Before we carry out any repair work beyond that initial diagnosis, we will tell you exactly what it will cost. You will never pay more than the agreed amount. See our pricing page for current emergency rates.
What Counts as an Electrical Emergency
Not every electrical problem needs an emergency call-out, and we will always be honest with you about that. If you call us with something that can safely wait, we will tell you, it saves you the call-out fee.
Here is what we classify as a genuine emergency:
- Total power loss – your whole house has gone dark and resetting the fuseboard has not brought it back. Could indicate a failed main switch, a supply fault, or a serious wiring problem.
- Burning smell from a socket, switch or fuseboard – suggests overheating from loose connections, overloaded circuits, or deteriorating wiring. Switch off at the consumer unit immediately and call us.
- Sparking or arcing from outlets, light fittings or visible wiring. Any visible spark indicates a fault that could cause a fire or electric shock.
- Exposed live wires – from storm damage, accidental drilling into a cable, or deteriorated insulation. Do not touch them, even if the power appears to be off.
- Electrical shock – if someone has received a shock from any fitting, the circuit needs isolating and inspecting before use. Seek medical attention if the person is unwell.
- Water near electrics – a leak, burst pipe, or flood that has reached sockets, the fuseboard, or any visible wiring.
- Fuseboard that will not stop tripping – if a circuit trips immediately after resetting with nothing plugged in, there is likely a fault in the fixed wiring.
If you are not sure whether your problem is an emergency, call us on 01252 265094 and we will tell you honestly. We would rather save you the call-out fee and book a standard appointment than charge emergency rates for something non-urgent.
Common Emergency Jobs We Handle
- Tripped RCDs that will not reset – often caused by moisture ingress to an outdoor socket, a failing immersion heater element, or water damage from a leak.
- Power loss after a storm – lightning strikes and surges can blow fuses, damage surge protection devices, or cause transient wiring faults.
- Burning smell from a consumer unit – typically a loose busbar connection or deteriorating main switch. Always urgent.
- Loss of power to a single circuit – often a failed MCB that can be replaced on the same visit.
- Sparking from a socket – usually a loose terminal connection inside the socket that arcs when load is applied.
